I ordered online — pepperoni, thin crust, garlic knots — and twenty-three minutes later it was at my door in Whittier, still hot enough that the cheese stretched when I pulled the first slice.
The truth is, Domino's has figured out something most restaurants haven't: reliability at scale. The app works. The tracker actually tracks. The pizza tastes the same whether you're ordering in Sioux Falls or Sacramento, and sometimes that's exactly what you want — no surprises, no artisanal flour discourse, just carbs and grease and the vague comfort of corporate consistency.
The 3.8 rating tells you what you need to know. It's not going to blow your mind. The crust isn't hand-tossed by someone who studied in Naples. But it shows up when it says it will, and when you're working late or your kids are hungry or you just can't think about cooking one more time this week, that counts for something.
I've seen the delivery drivers pulling out of that lot on Minnesota at all hours — heading toward Harrisburg, looping through McKennan Park, crossing the river toward Brandon — and I think about how much of this city runs on exactly this kind of food. Not the stuff we Instagram, just the stuff that gets us through.
Sometimes that's enough.
