Office Depot

I've been buying printer ink at the Office Depot on 41st for years — the one just west of Minnesota Avenue, in that strip where you always forget which entrance actually leads where. It's the store I hit when I need something *today* — toner at 4pm before a client meeting, folders because we ran out mid-project, a whiteboard because someone's brilliant idea can't wait for Amazon.

The staff here knows the difference between urgent and actually urgent. I walked in once needing a specific Brother cartridge, and the guy behind the print counter didn't even check the system — just pointed me to aisle seven and told me they had three left. He was right. That's the kind of institutional knowledge you don't get from a website.

The print center is where this place earns its keep. I've rushed in with flash drives full of last-minute presentation decks, and they've had them bound and ready faster than I could grab coffee next door. The woman who runs it in the mornings has saved more pitches than I'd like to admit — she knows paper weights, finishes, and she'll tell you when your file's going to print weird before you waste twenty color copies.

It's not glamorous. The carpet's industrial, the lighting's fluorescent, and there's always that one aisle that smells faintly of rubber bands and regret. But when you're building a business in Sioux Falls and you need supplies that actually exist in physical space — not arriving in two to three business days — this is where you go. I've driven past the newer big-boxes on Louise, but I keep coming back here. Partly habit, partly because they've never let me down when it mattered.

There's something reassuring about a store that just works.
