Pointer Roofing & Construction LLC

· 5100 S Woodwind Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57108, USA

I've driven past the Pointer Roofing office on Woodwind more times than I can count — tucked in that industrial stretch south of 57th where the city starts to thin out into prairie and warehouse rows. Not much curb appeal out there, but honestly, that's kind of the point. These are the guys who show up when your shingles are peeling back after an April hailstorm, not the ones polishing their LinkedIn headshots.

What struck me when I finally called them for a piece I was working on was how quickly someone picked up. No phone tree, no "your call is important to us" loop — just a human voice who knew what they were talking about. They do residential and commercial roofing, siding, gutters, the full envelope work that keeps South Dakota weather on the outside where it belongs. The Google reviews read like people genuinely relieved to have found them, which in the contractor world is rarer than you'd think.

I talked to a couple of their clients around the Whittier neighborhood — older homes, lots of them with those steep-pitched roofs that look great until you have to reshingle them. Everyone mentioned the same thing: they showed up when they said they would. Low bar, I know, but apparently it's the bar half the industry can't clear.

The one knock I heard was that they're not always the cheapest bid — someone on the east side near 26th went with another crew to save a few hundred bucks and regretted it by the next winter. You get what you pay for, and all that.

Still, twenty-six five-star reviews doesn't happen by accident. Pointer seems to be the kind of outfit that treats your roof like it matters — because when it's ten below and the wind's coming off the plains, it really does.
