Starry Eyes Tattoos

· 3400 W 49th St Unit 110, Sioux Falls, SD 57106, USA

I've driven past the little strip mall on 49th Street more times than I can count — it's one of those spots where you don't really notice what's there until you're looking for it. Starry Eyes Tattoos sits in Unit 110, tucked between the kinds of businesses that come and go, but this one's been holding steady with something most shops can't fake: artists who actually listen.

I talked to a client who came in wanting her grandmother's handwriting tattooed on her wrist. The artist didn't just copy it — she spent twenty minutes asking questions about her grandmother, about what the words meant, about placement and how her hands move through the day. That's the difference between a tattoo and a keepsake you'll carry for decades.

The shop itself isn't trying to be edgy or clinical. It's clean, well-lit, the kind of place where you can breathe and think clearly before making a permanent decision. They do walk-ins, but the artists I've spoken with say their best work happens during consultations — when there's time to sketch, revise, and make sure the design lands right.

What isn't perfect: parking can be tight during busy hours, and like a lot of smaller studios, their availability books up fast. If you want a specific artist, you're looking at a wait. But that's also a signal — people come back because they trust the work.

I've seen plenty of Sioux Falls ink over the years, and the pieces coming out of Starry Eyes hold their own. No flash-wall filler, no rush jobs. Just artists who care about what goes on your skin, whether it's your first tattoo or your fifteenth. The kind of place where "custom" actually means something.
